SPEC Board Review

What’s Covered on the SPEC
The Special Purpose Examination for Chiropractic (SPEC) is designed for doctors of chiropractic who have been out of practice or away from school for an extended period. The exam tests your ability to apply knowledge in:Diagnosis and clinical reasoning, Case management and patient care, Imaging and diagnostic studies, and Chiropractic techniques and procedures. This exam ensures you are ready to return to active practice with the skills and confidence required of today’s chiropractic physicians.
How I Adapt My Review For SPEC Candidates
Because most SPEC candidates have been away from the classroom for years, I structure my review differently: a slower pace with time to reframe old knowledge into fresh understanding, a “Remember this?” approach that links back to what you’ve already done in practice, and bridges that connect your real-world cases to exam questions, making recall easier and more meaningful.
Proven Success with My Students
Over the years, I’ve helped many SPEC candidates transition back into practice. More than a handful of my students have scored a perfect 800 on the SPEC after studying with me. Doctors often email me after a review to share how they encountered something from class in their very next week of practice—and handled it with confidence.
Rebuilding Confidence in Your Clinical Skills
Preparing for the SPEC isn’t just about passing an exam—it’s about regaining confidence in yourself as a doctor. My trauma-informed, encouraging teaching style supports you as you reconnect with the science and art of chiropractic, sharpen your clinical reasoning, and step back into practice with renewed skill and self-assurance.
